Street Clock Restoration
Swiss Bear spearheaded a fundraising campaign in 1987, and coordinated the restoration of the 1920 four-faced Baxter Street Clock that was severely damaged in 1977. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the timepiece is now a public landmark. |

In 1989, New Bern received the All America City Award largely based on its preservation, downtown revitalization, and waterfront re-development effort.

In the late 80's to promote rehabilitation, the organization acquired grant monies for several programs that provided financial incentives and architectural and design assistance to property owners that renovated their storefronts. |
